Whilst locked down in the studio, Newcastle based collective Tex and the Pangeans have been refining their sound and sharpening their craft. In ‘ Dance outta the flames’ they draw on influences from across the reggae spectrum – channelling a synth-based chorus line reminiscent of lover’s rubadub from the 1980’s, and utilising a horn line from Trombonist Zoob of duo Zoob and Fat Mark similar to those found in more sound system orientated dub music, giving the track an upbeat, triumphant feel and classic familiar tone.
The vocals are provided by frontman Tex with his distinctive flavour paying homage to the gospel-based culture from which reggae vocals originally grew.
Tex :
"Growing up in the ghetto, life took many twist and turns for me . Turns that weren't the best. Most times I thought I was knee deep in quick sand. But where there's a will there's a way and like the Phoenix I rose up out of it. "
Also included in the release is a classic stripped back dub version where the instrumentation and effects are pushed to the forefront.
